The Cost of Living Crisis
The cost of living crisis
Is biting hard and deep,
People swap their oil for lard,
As they struggle just to eat.
Many are skipping meals,
With bills soaring to the sky,
As winter’s chill approaches,
Too many are set to die.
It can’t be right,
That the poor must bear the weight,
While the rich grow richer,
For many, life feels like fate.
Electricity prices soar by eighty percent,
How can families make ends meet?
It’s only August now,
Yet the future feels so bleak.
Petrol, diesel, and oil—prices on the rise,
As energy companies reap their gains,
Meat, fruit, and veggies,
All climbing in their chains.
At the Kennedy Space Centre,
It’s hard to comprehend,
A costly rocket launches,
While so many struggle to fend.
Boris is Prime Minister,
But he seems far away,
Waiting for Truss or Sunak,
Do they care? Who can say?
So many are worried,
As mental health declines,
Visiting hospitals is futile,
With a shortage of nurses on the lines.
Doctors, nurses, and teachers,
All considering a strike,
Trains are standing still,
As many choose to bike.
What a sad world it is,
When we can’t unite as one,
Russia cuts gas to the West,
And the world feels overrun.
Yet for every problem, there’s a solution,
Have faith, my dearest friend,
Things will get better,
Together, we can mend.
